Itinerary (14-22 Sep 2025)
DAY 1: Haldwani to Munsiyari
~215 KM | 8-9 hours by road
Route: Haldwani → Kiccha → Rudrapur → Khatima → Tanakpur → Munsiyari
Stay: Munsiyari (overnight in a hotel or guesthouse)
Begin your journey from the plains, winding through Kumaon’s forested ridges and river valleys. As you ascend toward Munsiyari, the air thins and the mountains begin to speak. The Johar Valley awaits.
DAY 2: Munsiyari to Martoli
Route: Munsiyari → Thamri Kund → Martoli
Stay: Martoli (overnight in tents or a basic guesthouse)
Leave behind the last motorable stretch and step into the timeless trail. Cross alpine forests and ancient shepherd paths to reach Martoli—a village of stone houses and stories, once a bustling trade post to Tibet.
DAY 3: Martoli to Ganghar
Route: Martoli → Ganghar
Stay: Ganghar (camping or a basic stay)
The valley narrows and the peaks rise. Trek through wildflower meadows and glacial streams to Ganghar, a quiet hamlet nestled beneath the gaze of Nanda Devi East. The mountain begins to reveal herself.
DAY 4: Ganghar to Nanda Devi East Base Camp
Route: Ganghar → Nanda Devi East Base Camp
Stay: Nanda Devi East Base Camp (camping)
A sacred walk into silence. The trail climbs gently, opening into a wide amphitheater of snow and stone. At the base camp, you stand before the goddess—Nanda Devi East, radiant and remote.
DAY 5: Nanda Devi East Base Camp to Milam
~12 KM | 5-6 HRS
Route: Nanda Devi East Base Camp → Milam Village
Stay: Milam (basic guesthouse or camping)
Descend through highland pastures and moraine fields toward Milam, once the heart of Himalayan trade. The ruins whisper of caravans and cultures that passed through this forgotten corridor.
DAY 6: Milam to Martoli
~18 KM | 6-7 HRS TREK
Route: Milam → Martoli
Stay: Martoli (camping or basic guesthouse)
Retrace your steps through the valley, now familiar yet ever-changing. The rhythm of the river and the rustle of birch trees guide you back to Martoli, where the mountains feel like home.
DAY 7: Martoli to Munsiyari
~13 KM | 4-5 HRS TREK
Route: Martoli → Munsiyari
Stay: Munsiyari (overnight in a hotel or guesthouse)
The descent is gentle, but the heart lingers. Each bend in the trail carries the weight of memory—of peaks glimpsed, silences heard, and the self rediscovered.
DAY 8: Munsiyari to Haldwani
~215 KM | 8-9 hours by road
Route: Munsiyari → Thamri Kund → Khatima → Tanakpur → Haldwani
Return to the plains with the mountain still within you. The journey ends, but its echo stays—etched in your breath, your stride, and your stillness.
